Why African Leadership?

In the beginning, our group knew that we wanted to help relief efforts in Africa, but we weren’t sure how to accomplish that. We researched several organizations, and decided on African Leadership, a local 501c(3) organization that is committed to developing projects and programs that meet both the physical and spiritual needs of Africans. Their work includes pastor training, HIV/AIDS education, job training, building schools and funding education for children, providing care for orphans, offering famine relief, and building wells.

We are impressed with African Leadership's approach in supporting relief efforts initiated by Africans, as well as their careful stewardship of donated funds. We are confident that funds donated to African Leadership will be put to good use. Each year, we meet with the leaders of African Leadership to decide on projects that will be supported through our event.
The Valentine's Dance has funded Bibles for pastor training, orphan care in Malawi, microloans in Gulu, Uganda, a childcare facility in Khayelitsha, South Africa, and partial funding for a vocational school in Kibera, Kenya.

This year, in addition to supporting pastor training and orphan care through Africa Leadership, we are also highlighting and supporting Amazima Ministries through 147 Million Orphans.
